Audi Auto Parts: Truth in Engineering

Audi formally began in 1909, along with the 100% authentic auto parts that go into engineering this beautiful machine. August Horch founded A. Horch and Cie in 1899. Ten years later he left to begin a new company, but could not legally use his name again. While meeting with two close friends, Paul and Franz Fikentscher, a translated version of the Horsch name was suggested. In the German language, Horch means "Hark" or to listen. Franz Fikentscher?s son, a Latin student, offered the Latin translation of "Hark" and the name Audi was born. With that decision in 1909, Audi's official history began along with Audi auto parts.

A Racing Victory Forges a Champion

From 1911 through 1914, Horch won all four International Austrian Alpine Runs (the Alpine Challenge), establishing Audi as a high performance vehicle with authentic Audi auto parts.
Horch left Audi in 1920 for a Ministry of Transport executive position, yet remained on the Board of Trustees. In September, 1921, the first Audi Type K model introduced left-hand drive with authentic Audi auto parts and promised a better view of oncoming traffic and safer passing. Audi's dominance continued growing.

The Auto Union Dictates the Future

In August, 1928, DKW owner Jorgen Rasmussen acquired majority shares in Audi AG and in Rickenbacker, a US automaker known for its eight-cylinder engines. With Audi manufacturing six- and four- cylinder engines with Audi auto parts (licensed from Peugeot), DKW introduced the first front-wheel drive automobile in 1931...made of course, with Audi auto parts.
1932 proved historic as Audi merged with Horch, DKW and Wanderer, forming Auto Union. This merger created one manufacturer to meet all transportation needs, from motorcycles to luxury sedans, built with genuine Audi auto parts. The four-ringed Audi logo was conceived, representing these four companies and securing Audi auto parts history.
The year 1933 marked the first Audi with front-wheel drive, followed by Grand Prix racing cars in 1934 and a 16-cylinder, 545 horsepower racing car in 1937, bolstered by Audi auto parts.
In 1938, Audi became the first automaker to begin crash and rollover testing of genuine Audi auto parts.
In 1945, at the end of WW II, Auto Union was dismantled by the Soviets. Three years later, Auto Union AG was officially deleted from the commercial register and the future of Audi auto parts was in peril. Financial help arrived in 1949 from the Bavarian government and Marshall Plan aid. A new factory was built in Ingolstadt, creating Auto Union Gmbh, and Audi auto parts future reappeared. In 1958, Audi was acquired by Daimler-Benz and again by Volkswagen in 1964. Authentic Audi auto parts were back, but not visible.
Audi auto parts and the influential Audi name were resurrected in 1965. The Wankel rotary engine appeared in 1967, with new Audi auto parts and a streamlined body style. Audi entered the U.S. market in 1969 and continued to innovate through the 70s, offering high performance, energy efficient products, and 100% authentic Audi auto parts. The 80?s gave birth to Quattro, the first high performance car sporting four-wheel drive, featuring genuine Audi auto parts.

Modern Audi - Innovation, Style and Performance with Audi Auto Parts

The 1993 frame design featured aluminum components for reduced weight and efficiency, followed by the multitronic transmission, employing CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) in 2001. Audi introduced the R8 in 2006, an ultra high performance sports car with an aluminum body and yes, 100% genuine Audi auto parts.
Throughout its 100 year history, Audi has driven innovation, performance, luxury and style.
