A Racing Victory Forges a Champion
From 1911 through 1914, Horch won all four International Austrian Alpine Runs (the Alpine Challenge). This established Audi as a high performance vehicle with authentic Audi auto parts.
Horch left Audi in 1920 for a Ministry of Transport executive position. However he still remained on the Board of Trustees. In September, 1921, the first Audi Type K model introduced. The Auto Union Dictates the Future
In August, 1928, DKW owner Jorgen Rasmussen acquired majority shares in Audi AG. These were to be designed with Audi auto parts and licensed from Peugeot. DKW introduced the first front-wheel drive Audi automobile in 1931 and made of course, with Audi auto parts.
The year 1932 proved historic as Audi merged with Horch, DKW and Wanderer. This merger formed the famous Auto Union. This merger allowed one manufacturer to meet all transportation needs. They built motorcycles to luxury sedans, built with genuine Audi auto parts. The four-ringed Audi logo was conceived, representing these four companies and securing Audi auto parts history.
The year 1933 marked the first Audi with front-wheel drive. This was followed by Grand Prix racing cars in 1934. The race car incorporated a sixteen cylinder and 545 horsepower. In 1937 this race car help bolstered Audi by using Audi auto parts.
